The Nigeria Police say they are still gathering the names of people kidnapped during the recent mass abduction in Kaduna State.
The police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said this during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television. He explained that investigations are still ongoing and that Nigerians will be informed as soon as more details are available.
According to him, the police do not yet have the full list of victims, but they have an estimated number. He said the situation is being carefully investigated.
Hundeyin noted that there are no CCTV cameras in the area to immediately show what happened.
However, he confirmed that the incident did take place and that security forces have been fully deployed to the area.
He added that a police helicopter was sent for aerial surveillance to help with the operation. This action, he said, shows how seriously the police are treating the matter.
He also revealed that the Inspector-General of Police ordered the deployment, while the Commissioner of Police personally visited the area to supervise the operation.
