The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a comprehensive road safety awareness campaign in Mpape, Abuja, as part of renewed efforts to reduce road traffic crashes, improve public awareness, and encourage responsible road use among motorists, commercial drivers, pedestrians, and other road users.
The campaign, which took place in the bustling Mpape community, brought together FRSC officials, transport union members, community leaders, students, and residents. The initiative is designed to educate the public on the importance of obeying traffic rules and adopting safe road practices to prevent avoidable accidents.
Speaking during the event, FRSC officials emphasized that road safety is a collective responsibility requiring the commitment of every road user. They noted that while the Corps continues to strengthen enforcement of traffic regulations, public education remains one of the most effective ways to reduce crashes and save lives.
According to the officials, many road accidents in Nigeria result from preventable human errors such as speeding, dangerous overtaking, distracted driving, drunk driving, and failure to obey traffic signs. They urged motorists to exercise patience and caution while behind the wheel, stressing that no journey is worth risking lives.
