Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has dismissed the influence of negative comments on social media, stressing that the Nigerian team remains firmly focused on its objectives at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ndidi, who currently plays for Turkish giants Beşiktaş, made this known while responding to questions from journalists during the Nigeria versus Tunisia pre-match press conference at the Complex Sportive de Fès.
The experienced midfielder said the players have collectively agreed not to allow criticism or negativity on social media to distract them from their mission.
According to the Super Eagles skipper, the team understands the passion and emotions of Nigerians and football fans worldwide, especially during major tournaments, but has chosen to stay mentally strong and united.
“Nigerians and other social media users have the liberty to express themselves,” Ndidi said. “Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it is important to turn the negativity into something positive.”
He added that the atmosphere in camp remains positive and focused, with players fully committed to giving their best on the pitch.
Ndidi emphasized that unity and concentration are key as the Super Eagles prepare for the crucial encounter against Tunisia.
The comments come amid heightened expectations and scrutiny surrounding the Super Eagles’ AFCON campaign.
However, Ndidi maintained that the team’s attention is firmly on performance rather than online reactions.
Nigeria will take on Tunisia in a vital AFCON 2025 fixture, as the Super Eagles look to assert their strength, resilience, and determination in the tournament.
