Disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has opened up about why she’s yet to release another album almost four years after her debut Original Copy.
Cuppy, via her social media handles on Wednesday, disclosed that she is still trying to perfect her music, urging her fans to be patient.
She stated that even though she has promised to release new music this year, she’s still working to perfect the art.
She stressed that God’s timing in everything is the best, even when it doesn’t align with one’s ego.
She said at 30, she wants to make sure she gets the music right, hence the reason she’s taking her time.
In her words,
“I posted something the other day which is so true. I promised my fans that I will drop music this year, it has been almost four years since my debut and only album.
“But, let me say it again, God’s timing is the best even if it doesn’t align with your ego. I wanna make sure I get music right. And at 30, I feel I have another proper shot, and I’ve small small energy. So, be patient with me.”
Cuppy revealed that it was now an album after she added one more song to it with the help of her sister, Tolani, who’s a singer.
The 31-year-old further said she has a point to prove if she wants to be taken seriously as a musician.
“My album is just about f***ing music… I have a point to prove. I don’t want people to to get it twisted. Just because I’m a fun person doesn’t mean I’m not a credible artiste…,”
she said.
