I Got Married To Dodge Backlash For Selling Sex Products – Jaruma

Controversial Nigerian sex therapist Hauwa Mohammed, known as Jaruma has revealed the reason she married her ex-husband, Ross Fahad Isabor, citing intense backlash from society as a motive.

Jaruma, who runs a sex enhancement brand, in an interview with ‘Issues and Society’ podcast,  said the criticism from northerners rooted in her Muslim faith and single status pushed her to settle down with someone she did not love.

She shared that these factors led her to make a strategic decision to marry, claiming that her former husband was fully aware of her intentions.

“There was a massive heat from the north because I was selling sex products as a single lady,” she stated. “Being a Muslim and unmarried, people questioned why a single woman should teach others about bedroom matters and make money from it.”

Jaruma highlighted the challenges she faced, but also noted the lucrative nature of the industry. “The sex industry is worth billions. It’s not going anywhere, and I made N760 million in just three years,” she said.

Determined not to abandon her thriving business, Jaruma concluded that marriage would silence the critics. “I realised that if marriage was the issue, I might as well do it.

“So, I got married, not for love or attraction, but to escape the pressure,” she admitted. “I got married just a month after meeting him, and I was upfront about my reasons. He knew it wasn’t about love, but about the societal pressure.”
