Nigerian music sensation,Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema has broken his silence on the reports alleging that he used “satanic/Illuminati” symbols while performing on stage at his headline concert at the 02 Arena in London.
Recall, the 23-year-old had mesmerized his fans when he pulled up at the sold out the 20,000-capacity 02 Arena on Tuesday donning a mask and all-black outfit while straddling a stationary horse to the beats of his latest hit, “DND.”
Rema made the dazzling entrance into the Arena, joining the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake to become the only Africans to sell out the world’s busiest music arena.
However, the entry stunt pulled by the singer rubbed off wrongly on some of his fans who attended the show.
They accused Rema of satanism, saying he used “Illuminati” symbols in his concert.
Rema was forced to put out a brief statement to address the allegation and explain the concept behind his performance as the accusation spiraled.
Speaking in a post via his X on Thursday, the Edo-born superstar gave reasons for donning a black outfit and straddling on an artificial horse he rode into the stage.
According to Rema, the act was a replica of a Benin artefact, and the mask he wore was a replica of the famous Queen Idia mask.
The artificial bat he rode on stage during his second appearance was said to be a homage to the bats that dot the Edo night sky.
Sharing a clip from his controversial concert, Rema wrote,
“RAVAGE UPRISING/ My Ancestors bronzes sit in the museum of this very city, so I remade mine. Hence, Edo is redefined, the map reshaped, your minds awakened & the mask reborn. Thank you London!. ”
