A major power outage has affected several key locations across Abuja, including the Presidential Villa, the Supreme Court, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) announced the development in a notice released on Saturday, explaining that the blackout was caused by a technical fault affecting electricity supply in parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the company, the outage disrupted power in several areas such as State House, Asokoro, Lugbe, Central Area, and parts of Garki including Areas 2, 3, 7 and 8.

AEDC also listed several embassies, hotels, government offices, residential estates and commercial centres among the affected locations.

These include the European Union office, National Hospital, National Planning Commission, Treasury House, River Park Estate, Aviation Village, Immigration and Customs offices, Air Force Base, correctional facilities and surrounding communities.

Areas around Airport Road, including Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and nearby facilities, were also impacted by the disruption.

The electricity company apologised to customers for the inconvenience and assured residents and businesses that efforts are ongoing to restore supply as quickly as possible.

AEDC stated that engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) are already working to identify and fix the technical problem responsible for the outage.

The company appealed for patience and understanding from affected customers while restoration work continues.
