The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has congratulated Ugo Ugochukwu following his victory at the 2024 International Automobile Federation World Cup.
Top Society reports that Ugo Ugochukwu won the 2024 Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) at the 71st Macau Grand Pix.
Peter Obi said Ugochukwu’s victory was a testament to his immense talent, after which described historic achievement. He stated that like Ugo, Nigerian youths when given the right support and guidance, would excel in their chosen areas.
In his congratulatory message on Monday, the former Anambra State governor said: “It gives me immense pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to the teenage sensation Ugo Ugochukwu Orlandi for his extraordinary win at the 71st Macau Grand Prix. This historic achievement, as the first American driver in over four decades to capture this coveted title, is a moment of pride and celebration.
“Ugo’s outstanding victory stands as a testament to his immense talent, hard work, and consistent dedication—qualities that our youth today can demonstrate when given the right support and guidance.
“With a Nigerian mother, the esteemed supermodel Oluchi Onweagba Orlandi, and an Italian father, the former fashion designer Luca Orlandi, Ugo embodies a rich and diverse heritage. His success serves as an inspiration to young Nigerians everywhere, illustrating the boundless potential that can be realized when passion is paired with opportunity.
“I must also commend McLaren for their foresight in recognizing Ugo’s potential and for their ongoing commitment to developing young talent. Their support underscores the critical role of nurturing ambition and investing in the future.

Meanwhile, speaking on his victory, the 17-year-old said: “I can’t describe the feeling, of course I’m super happy. It was quite a tricky race, I was pushing the whole way, but I was confident in the pace – ever since Q2 we’ve been really quick, of course we won the Quali race as well, but there was still one more thing to do which was win the main race, and we managed to do it. I can’t thank the R-ace GP team enough – we had a great weekend and yeah, super happy to finally get the job done.”
Last year, Ugochukwu became the first champion of the new Euro 4 Championship.
Celebrating her son’s latest feat, Onweagba wrote on social media on Sunday, “My Daddy, my Daddy thank you soooo much for showing up and showing out for my young king @ugougochukwu. You totally broke ALL protocols for him. I’m grateful.”
