The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State says many people are showing interest in joining the party ahead of the 2027 elections. The party revealed that eight people have already shown interest in contesting for the governorship ticket.

According to the ADC chairman in Rivers State, Chukwudi Dimkpa, this growing interest shows that more people now see the party as a strong alternative in Nigerian politics.

He also praised former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, for seeking the ADC presidential ticket, describing it as an important step for the party’s growth nationwide.

Dimkpa said the governorship hopefuls include former government officials, technocrats, professionals, and business people. Among them are a former Secretary to the State Government, former House of Representatives members, a former executive director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), a former chairman of NIMASA, a former commissioner, and a former Chief Medical Director of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).

He added that many others are also interested in contesting for Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly positions in Rivers State.

According to him, the movement into the ADC is more than ordinary politics, saying it represents a mix of experience, competence, youth energy, and grassroots support for a new political direction in Rivers State and Nigeria.

Dimkpa said the increasing number of professionals and politicians joining the ADC shows that many people now see the party as a platform focused on accountability, inclusion, development, and effective leadership.
