Twist in MohBad’s Case: Wife Demands DNA Test for Son’s Paternity

Late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, known by his stage name MohBad, continues to make headlines following his untimely demise earlier this year. His wife, Omowunmi Aloba, has recently come forward demanding a DNA test to confirm the paternity of her six-month-old son, Liam.

Speaking with renowned Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, Omowunmi stressed the necessity of conducting the DNA test, asserting that it is no longer a mere choice but an essential step in pursuit of justice. The grieving widow expressed her willingness to share her side of the story with the public, a story she had initially refrained from revealing to allow for an unhindered police investigation into her husband’s death.

She said,

“I’ve decided not to speak on anything until 7th of November which is the coroner inquest because I do not want any side distraction; all I want is justice for my husband which I believe the Nigerian government is working on, after everything I’ll either grant an interview or tell my own story before the whole world, and also DNA is definitely a must.”

Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father, has since supported Omowunmi’s call for a DNA test, citing the pressing need to dispel the controversial speculations surrounding the paternity of Liam. He explicitly dismissed rumors propagated by MohBad’s friend, the popular skit maker OGBCultist, and proposed that the test be conducted at two different medical facilities to ensure the accuracy of the results.

Aloba said,

“Concerning the DNA test, it’s a must they do it. Nigerians are demanding it. I heard rumours that they did it, but no matter what, I’m Mohbad’s father, so I’ll give consent to the DNA test or send anyone who can represent me during the test if I’m not there to know how they’ll do it. And even when they want to do it, it should be done in two different places so we can be very sure and know the truth.

“Also, where I am from in Ikere Ekiti, even Olu of Ikere just left my side now after visiting me. We don’t accept bastards where I’m from, but it will be a thing of joy for me if this child is Mohbad’s because this is the only child he said he left for me. Three days before his death, I was with him, he even served me food, and he put Liam on my hands, and he was taking pictures.”

He further expressed his desire for the police to conclude their investigation swiftly, enabling the smooth execution of the funeral arrangements for his deceased child.

On September 12, 2023, MohBad, aged 27, passed away, triggering heated debates and prompting nationwide demonstrations among Nigerians.

His former record label chief, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and his associate, Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, were listed among the five key suspects, intensifying the already tumultuous situation.
