Nicki Minaj Teases Davido Over Collaboration

Trinidadian born rapper and pop icon Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty professionally known as Nicki Minaj and Nigerian Afrobeats icon David Adeleke better known as Davido thrills fans with a lighthearted Tweet exchange hinting at potential collaborations.

Nicki Minaj posted a playful tweet aimed at Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido.

Nicki jokingly wrote:” AH! @davido Dey try win me for my own song eh? No worry, my own Dey  come soon for una pikin & the Barbz worldwide. #IfItsOkay #ThePinkprint10YearAnniversary. qw”

The tweet, blending Nigerian Pidgin and her signature Barbz persona, celebrated their artistic chemistry while marking the 10th anniversary of Nicki Minaj’s album ‘The Pinkprint’.

Davido quickly responded with: ” I come in peace”. The exchange of tweets left fans deliberating about upcoming collaborations from them. 

Nicki’s tweet suggests a major release might under development possibly aimed at bridging her worldwide audience with Davido’s Afrobeats influence.

Nicki is regarded as the “Queen of Rap” and one of the most influential rappers of all time. She is known for her dynamic rap flow, witty lyrics, musical versatility, and alter egos. Nicki continues to expand her reach within the Afrobeats genre, following previous collaborations with artists like Yemi Alade and Wizkid.

Davido on the other has also worked with top tier international artists like Chris Brown, Popcaan and Summer Walker. He is regarded as one of the most important Afrobeats artists of the 21st century and helped popularize the genre globally.

The Afrobeats icon made his music debut as a member of the group KB International. He studied business administration at Oakwood University before dropping out to pursue his dream.

Davido received three nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for  ‘Unavailable’, ‘Feel’ and his album ‘Timeless’ in November 2023. In January 2024, Davido received three nominations at the 55th NAACP Image Awards.
