In a move aimed at easing travel expenses during the festive season, Aero Contractors, a prominent Nigerian airline, has announced a major reduction in its airfares across all domestic routes.
The announcement was made by the airline’s Managing Director, Ado Sanusi, during a press conference held in Lagos on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Sanusi disclosed that airfare to all destinations served by the airline has been slashed to ₦80,000 per trip. This reduction, which is effective immediately, is expected to provide substantial relief to travelers during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
According to Sanusi, the initiative is part of the airline’s commitment to giving back to Nigerians and supporting them during the festive period, which is traditionally a time of increased travel and reunions with loved ones.
“Though this slash in ticket prices is billed to end in January next year, we aim to give back to Nigerians and support them during the Christmas season,” Sanusi stated.
“Our prices will start from ₦80,000 to all of our destinations, and we intend to make it affordable for the flying public. This is to allow families and individuals to meet their loved ones during this festive season.”
The price reduction is particularly significant given the recent spike in airfare costs in Nigeria. Airfares for popular routes such as Lagos to Abuja have been reported to range between ₦160,000 and ₦180,000 for a single trip, making air travel prohibitively expensive for many Nigerians.
This new pricing by Aero Contractors effectively cuts travel costs by up to 50%, making it one of the most affordable options for domestic air travel during the season.
Travelers have welcomed the announcement with enthusiasm, as the reduced fares are expected to alleviate financial pressure and encourage more people to opt for air travel.
