AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim has ruled out the possibility of Samuel Chukwueze leaving the club this summer.
The Nigerian winger spent last season on loan at Premier League side AC Milan, where he scored three goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
Fulham were interested in signing Chukwueze permanently, but the deal failed to materialise after AC Milan refused to lower their €24 million asking price.
The 27-year-old has also been linked with a move to Turkey, but Amorim has made it clear that the former Villarreal star remains part of his plans for the new season.
Speaking to reporters, Amorim said Chukwueze possesses qualities that are important to the team, especially his ability to beat opponents in one-on-one situations.
“Chukwu is staying with us. We need players who can play one-on-one, literally. Saelemaekers can play on the left or right. Cissé and Comotto will start preseason with us, but after that I really have no idea what will happen,” Amorim said.
“I think Chukwueze has truly great qualities to be in our team, and he gives us options to play in other systems.”
The Portuguese tactician added that the winger remains an important part of his plans as AC Milan prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.
Chukwueze joined AC Milan from Spanish club Villarreal in 2023 and has endured a mixed spell at the San Siro. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.
Meanwhile, the winger is expected to report for pre season training with the rest of the squad in the coming days as preparations for the new season gather momentum.
Chukwueze will be eager to impress Amorim and fight for a place in the starting lineup. His pace, dribbling ability and creativity are considered valuable qualities that could boost Milan’s attacking threat.
The Super Eagles star has also remained a key figure for Nigeria, regularly featuring in international competitions and qualification matches.
With Amorim publicly backing him to remain at the club, Chukwueze now has a fresh opportunity to revive his AC Milan career and establish himself as an important player for the Rossoneri in the upcoming season.
