Liverpool and Barcelona have secured their places in the knockout stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool side have led the league phase since Match Day 1, and their 2-1 victory over Lille on Tuesday night preserved their flawless record. The Reds have now won all seven of their matches, earning the maximum 21 points.
Barcelona also advanced with a thrilling 5-4 win against Benfica in Portugal, taking their tally to 18 points. While Liverpool need just one more point to guarantee top spot, no team can surpass their current 21-point total.
At the end of the eight-match league phase, the top eight teams will progress directly to the round of 16. Meanwhile, clubs ranked 9th to 24th will compete in play-offs to complete the knockout stage lineup.
