President Bola Tinubu has given his nod for the appointment of Ambassador Desmond Akawor as the Federal Commissioner representing Rivers State within the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
This decision comes in the wake of the unfortunate passing of Hon. Asondu Wenah Temple, the immediate past RMAFC Federal Commissioner from Rivers State earlier this month.
Ambassador Akawor, a seasoned public servant, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

His extensive career includes serving as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sole Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, and Executive Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (Engineering & Technical Services).
Pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate, Ambassador Akawor is set to step into the responsibilities left vacant by Hon. Temple.
The President, through Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, expressed confidence in Akawor’s ability to contribute significantly to the comprehensive reformation of processes within the RMAFC.
