Ademola Lookman may not be fully fit for Atletico Madrid’s Champions League semi-final against Arsenal.
The Nigerian forward did not play in Wednesday’s La Liga match against Elche because the club wanted to be careful with his fitness.
Atletico’s medical team said Lookman felt some discomfort after their Copa del Rey final loss to Real Sociedad last Saturday. Because of this, he is now training alone instead of with the rest of the team.
The club explained that both Lookman and Alexander Sorloth had minor issues after the final, so they are being cautious to prevent any serious injury.
Atletico will play Arsenal in the first leg of the semi-final next Wednesday at their home stadium, and they really want Lookman to be available for the big match.
The 28-year-old has been in great form since joining Atletico from Atalanta earlier this year. He has scored seven goals and made four assists in 18 matches, including a goal in the Copa del Rey final.
Before facing Arsenal, Atletico still have two league matches against Elche and Athletic Club. However, their main focus is on getting Lookman fit in time for the Champions League clash.
