Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the well-known broadcaster and founder of Agidigbo FM, has revealed the reason behind his decision to run for the governorship of Oyo State. According to him, his choice to contest was guided by divine direction.
Speaking about his decision, Hamzat said he carefully considered advice from both supporters and critics before making up his mind.
While some people encouraged him to run, others warned him against it. Hamzat explained that he prayed and sought guidance from God, ultimately concluding that contesting for the governorship was the right path.
“I am deeply grateful to everyone who offered me advice, whether encouraging or cautionary. I took all their opinions seriously, but in the end, I sought God’s approval, and He confirmed that I should go ahead. I don’t want to disobey God just to please anyone,” Hamzat said.
The popular on-air personality emphasized that his main goal is to serve the people of Oyo State honestly and responsibly.
He stressed that he does not intend to be like many politicians who are driven by corruption and self-interest. “I want to serve the people, and I believe I will succeed because the people are genuinely with me. I did not buy anyone to attend my announcement event,” he added.
Hamzat also addressed skeptics who doubt his chances of winning the election. He said he has moved beyond the fear of losing or being unfairly blocked from the race and is focused entirely on gaining support from the citizens.
“We have moved past the question of whether I might be rigged out or lose. What matters now is serving the people and earning their trust,” he said.
By declaring his interest under the Accord Party (AP), Hamzat is aiming to bring fresh ideas and a new approach to leadership in Oyo State.
He urged everyone, including those who initially opposed his decision, to come together and support him as he pursues the governorship.
