The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that a coalition of political actors in Rivers State has reached an agreement to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Wike made the announcement during his media engagement in Abuja, where he spoke on political developments ahead of the next general election. According to him, leaders and stakeholders from different political parties in Rivers State have come together with the aim of backing Tinubu while promoting the interests of the state.
The former Rivers State governor said the coalition cuts across party lines, involving members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), and other political groups. He explained that the alliance was not built around party identity but around what he described as the political and developmental interests of Rivers State.
Wike stated that the coalition had agreed to work together to ensure that Rivers State remains influential at the national level and continues to attract federal projects and opportunities. He argued that political cooperation was necessary to secure the state’s interests in the years ahead.
The declaration represents another major political movement ahead of the 2027 elections, with politicians across Nigeria already forming alliances and strengthening their structures. Wike also expressed confidence that Tinubu remains the strongest candidate capable of winning Rivers State in the next presidential election.
