Chief Registrar Umar Bangari of the Court of Appeal has issued a press statement on Wednesday, addressing the controversies surrounding the recent judgement on the Kano Governorship Election dispute.
Bangari clarified that the discrepancy in the judgement was a mere typo error, assuring the public that it did not invalidate the court’s findings.

According to Bangari, the error would be rectified upon formal application by the concerned parties, citing the authority granted by Order 23 Rule 4 of the Court of Appeal Handbook for correction of clerical errors.
Contrary to speculations, Bangari emphasized that the judgement remains valid, dispelling any doubts about its integrity.
There was a commotion and a range of interpretations following the decision that affirmed the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling, which nullified Kabir Yusuf’s victory in the March 18 Governorship Election as a candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
