The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, did not attend the inauguration of the Oyo State Council of Obas held on Thursday.
The event was organized by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde. The Council of Obas had not been active for several years and was largely inactive during the administration of former governor, Abiola Ajimobi.
During Ajimobi’s tenure, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, was named chairman of the council.
However, at Thursday’s inauguration, the Alaafin was not present. As of the time this report was filed, no official reason had been given for his absence.
Despite this, the event went on as planned and was attended by several traditional rulers, including:
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja
The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye
The Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegboola
