The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the match ball that will be used throughout the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The ball, named ITRI, was designed as a tribute to Morocco’s rich cultural heritage.
Its patterns are inspired by zellij, a traditional Moroccan mosaic art form that reflects the country’s deep artistic history.
The name “ITRI,” which means star in the Amazigh (Berber) language, also pays homage to the star symbol found on Morocco’s national flag, representing unity, brilliance, and pride.
CAF explained that the ITRI ball is not only a symbol of art and identity but also a blend of modern technology and African creativity.
The ball has been designed to meet international standards for aerodynamics, control, and durability—qualities essential for high-level competition.
The new match ball will make its first appearance in the opening game of AFCON 2025, where hosts Morocco will face Comoros in what promises to be an exciting curtain-raiser.
