Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar won the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary elections in Yobe, Zamfara, and Sokoto states.
The elections were reported to have taken place peacefully across the three states.
Yobe State
The chairman of the election committee in Yobe, Ma’am Kyari, announced the results in Damaturu.
According to the results:
Atiku Abubakar – 44,841 votes
Rotimi Amaechi – 300 votes
Mohammed Hayatu-Deen – 365 votes
Atiku was declared winner after getting the highest number of valid votes.
Officials praised party members, security agencies, and supporters for ensuring the process remained peaceful.
The ADC governorship candidate in Yobe, Kassim Geidam, also described the exercise as successful and thanked stakeholders and the media for their support.
Zamfara State
In Zamfara, the ADC presidential primary committee chairman and returning officer, Namadi Musa, announced that Atiku also won the state.
Results showed:
Atiku Abubakar – 60,500 votes
Mohammed Hayatu-Deen – 446 votes
Rotimi Amaechi – 191 votes
The election was conducted across all 147 wards in the state’s 14 local government areas.
Out of 63,484 registered party members, 61,137 votes were cast.
Officials from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the exercise.
The head of the INEC team, Lawal Aliyu, advised political parties to follow electoral guidelines and encouraged citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Sokoto State
Atiku also recorded a wide victory in Sokoto State.
The Chief Collation Officer, Aminu Abubakar, announced the results:
Atiku Abubakar – 68,823 votes
Rotimi Amaechi – 292 votes
Muhammad Hayatu-Deen – 319 votes
A total of 69,434 votes were cast during the exercise across the 23 local government areas.
The election officials said the process followed party rules and was conducted peacefully.
Notable personalities present included Aminu Tambuwal, Munir Dan’iya, and Faruk Yabo.
