In a press briefing at the national headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) revealed they are yet to receive the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Court of Appeal’s judgment on the Kano State governorship election delivered last Friday.
Kano in Disarray as CTC Conflicts with Reported Governorship Election Verdict
The court upheld the election petition tribunal’s decision, ousting Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and declaring Dr Nasiru Gawuna of the APC as the winner.
However, a twist emerged on Tuesday when viral copies of the judgment’s CTC revealed discrepancies. Some sections indicated that Yusuf’s appeal against his removal was upheld, while simultaneously suggesting the tribunal’s decision was set aside.
Addressing the confusion, the party’s legal adviser, Abubakar Kaka, asserted,
“As far as my office is concerned, we have not received the official copy of the certified true copy of the judgment. But we will write and get a copy.
“If the copy that will be conveyed to us still contains this error, we will take steps eventually.
“What we will do and we have done right now, is to write a request demanding for the CTC. Until we get the CTC containing that error, which is being banter around, before we will now know what to do next.”
