Police Nab Most Wanted Cultist in Anambra

In the fight against cult-related violence in Anambra, southeast Nigeria, the state police have apprehended a notorious cultist, Obioma Okafor-Ama, famously known as ‘Alagbon’. The arrest was confirmed by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, who informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka.

Okafor-Ama, who had been a prime target on the police’s most wanted list, was detained on October 19 by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, following an extensive period of intelligence gathering. The arrest took place at his hideout in Nise, a community in the Awka South Local Government Area of the state.

Commissioner Adeoye emphasized that the suspect is currently under police custody and will face prosecution after a thorough investigation. Okafor-Ama stands accused of leading a notorious cult group responsible for spreading fear and chaos in Nise and the surrounding areas.

The group has allegedly been involved in a series of heinous crimes, including assaults, maiming, and homicides, causing distress among local residents.

NAN also quoted a source in the force as saying, “The notorious cultist and his gang have been on the wanted list of police for a long time.

“Alagbon is part of the group responsible for several cult-related killings in Awka.

“We were happy and jubilating when we heard the news of his arrest.”
