Tinubu Names New CEOs to Spearhead Marine and Blue Economy Growth

President Bola Tinubu has given his seal of approval to the appointment of two prominent individuals as Chief Executive Officers in key Parastatals and Agencies under the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

This move comes in alignment with the recommendations of the Minister, Adegboyega Oyetola, and aims to bolster the administration’s efforts in the area of marine and blue economy.

As disclosed by Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the newly appointed heads are Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who will serve as the Managing Director and CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), and Mr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, appointed as the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC).

Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, a seasoned Economist with over 28 years of industry experience, holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Business Administration, complementing his background in Banking and Finance. Notably, his accomplishments include a successful tenure as the Osun State Commissioner of Finance for eight years, during which he steered the Osun State Investment Company Limited onto an upward trajectory.

On the other hand, Mr. Akutah Ukeyima brings a wealth of legal expertise to his new role, having graduated in Law and earned a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Prior to his appointment, he demonstrated his capabilities as the Head of the Central Authority Unit, International Cooperation in Criminal Matters, within the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

President Tinubu has urged the newly appointed executives to dutifully execute the policies and initiatives set forth by the Minister.

Their responsibility lies in advancing the agenda of the Blue Economy strategy, aiming to enhance revenues and investments within the sector as part of the overarching Renewed Hope Agenda.
