The House of Representatives has taken decisive action to address the long-standing issue of the delayed rehabilitation of the crucial Jibiro-Sarou-Belel Road in Adamawa State. The House has mandated its Committee on Works to conduct a thorough probe into the matter following the allocation of funds for the project.
Amid concerns over the sluggish progress, the House has urged the Federal Ministry of Works to ensure the prompt execution of the project once it commences. Emphasizing the vital role of well-maintained roads in fostering community development and improving the general well-being of the populace, the House has stressed the significance of addressing the challenges posed by the deteriorating road conditions.
These resolutions were adopted after the House considered a motion titled “Rehabilitation of Jibiro-Sarou-Belel Road,” put forward by Aliyu Boya”.
Expressing disappointment over the persisting road issues despite a seven-year allocation in the budget, the House highlighted the people’s dissatisfaction with the lack of progress and expressed concern over potential misappropriation or mismanagement of the allocated funds.
The House voiced regret over the failure to initiate construction despite the awarding of the contract, raising critical questions about the efficiency of the procurement and execution process.

The Committee on Works has been given a strict deadline of four weeks to investigate and report back on the situation, demonstrating the House’s commitment to resolving the challenges facing the Jibiro-Sarou-Belel Road project.
The motion reads:
“The delay has not only caused frustration for the people of the communities but also undermines public trust in the government’s commitment to infrastructural development.
“The House is concerned the continuous neglect impacted negatively on the people, causing suffering, economic loss, limited access to essential services and hardship.”
