President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed that his administration’s ongoing road infrastructure projects are part of a broader commitment to improving the quality of life of Nigerians and delivering on the promises made during the 2023 election campaign.
The President stated that investments in roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure are aimed at stimulating economic growth, creating jobs, reducing transportation costs, and improving access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential services across the country.
According to Tinubu, road development remains one of the key pillars of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that improved transportation networks will enhance trade, strengthen national unity, and encourage investments by making it easier for people and goods to move across different parts of the country.
He stressed that many of the projects currently under construction had suffered years of neglect but are now receiving renewed attention through increased funding and stronger government oversight. He added that the administration is determined to complete strategic highway projects that will have lasting economic and social benefits for millions of Nigerians.
Tinubu explained that quality roads are essential for national development, saying they contribute directly to increased productivity, lower vehicle maintenance costs, and improved safety for motorists. He also emphasized that better infrastructure would support farmers by reducing the time and cost of transporting agricultural produce, thereby helping to reduce post-harvest losses and improve food security.
The President acknowledged the economic challenges facing many Nigerians, including inflation and rising living costs, but maintained that investments in infrastructure are necessary to build a stronger economy capable of delivering sustainable prosperity. He said the benefits of these projects would become more evident as more roads are completed and put into use.
He further assured Nigerians that the federal government remains committed to transparency and accountability in executing infrastructure projects. According to him, contractors handling major road projects have been directed to maintain high standards and deliver quality work within agreed timelines.
Tinubu also praised engineers, construction workers, and other professionals involved in the projects, describing their efforts as vital to the country’s development. He encouraged them to continue maintaining professionalism while ensuring that public funds are used efficiently.
The administration has recently accelerated work on several major highways connecting different geopolitical zones, with officials saying the projects are expected to boost commerce, improve regional connectivity, and support industrial growth. The government believes that better road infrastructure will also attract private sector investments and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness within the West African region.
The President reiterated that his administration remains focused on fulfilling its campaign promises despite economic headwinds. He said every completed road project represents another step toward creating a more prosperous Nigeria where businesses can thrive and citizens can enjoy improved living standards.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting the government’s reform programmes, expressing confidence that ongoing investments in infrastructure, alongside other economic reforms, will deliver long-term benefits for the nation and improve the welfare of citizens.
