Wike Mocks Atiku and Bala Mohammed Over Supreme Court Ruling on Rivers State
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the PDP Governors Forum chairman, Bala Mohammed, after the Supreme Court ruled against the Rivers State government.
Wike questioned whether Atiku and Mohammed would still support Governor Sim Fubara, who has been accused of disobeying court orders.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Accountant General of the Federation should stop allocating funds to the Rivers State government until Fubara follows legal procedures.
The court also ordered the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule, to resume its duties.
Speaking in Abuja, Wike expressed happiness over the ruling, saying it was a victory against lawlessness in Rivers State. He criticized Fubara for ignoring court orders and failing to follow due process, including in the conduct of local government elections.
Wike also mocked Atiku and Bala Mohammed, saying they previously praised Fubara’s actions but should now acknowledge the Supreme Court’s decision. He emphasized that democracy must be protected and that one person cannot act as a government on their own.
