A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abiola Ajimobi, has declared that the ruling party is preparing for a fierce political battle ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must be removed from Nigeria’s political landscape.

Ajimobi made the statement while addressing party supporters during a recent political gathering, where he described the coming elections as a decisive moment for the APC and the future of the country. Using strong language, he said the party was ready to “go to war” politically to ensure victory at the polls.

According to him, the APC has no intention of taking the opposition lightly in 2027 and is already mobilising its structures nationwide. He accused the PDP of lacking clear direction and failing to present credible alternatives to Nigerians, arguing that the opposition party no longer represents the aspirations of the people.

Ajimobi noted that the ruling party is focused on strengthening internal unity, expanding grassroots support and consolidating its achievements in government as part of its strategy to dominate the next election cycle. He urged party members to remain loyal, disciplined and committed to the APC’s vision.

The APC stalwart also called on Nigerians to reject what he described as “politics of the past,” adding that the ruling party remains best positioned to deliver stability, economic growth and improved governance.

His remarks have sparked reactions across political circles, with opposition figures criticising the language as aggressive, while party loyalists see it as a show of confidence ahead of 2027. As political activities begin to intensify, analysts say such rhetoric signals an early start to what is expected to be a highly competitive and contentious election season.
