Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has strongly criticized Israel, saying the country will face consequences for its actions in the Middle East.

Speaking during his Eid al-Fitr message on Friday, Erdogan said Israel has caused the deaths of many people in the region. He expressed confidence that Israel would eventually “pay the price” for what he described as its actions.

Erdogan also warned that the policies of Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, could threaten both regional and global peace. However, he added that Muslims would overcome the current challenges.

On the other hand, Netanyahu defended Israel’s recent military strikes, especially those carried out with support from the United States. He said the operations are meant to protect the Middle East and the wider world.

According to Netanyahu, Iran’s missile and drone capabilities are being weakened. He stated that many launchers have been destroyed and that attacks are ongoing against Iran’s military and nuclear-related facilities.

Meanwhile, Israel also carried out overnight airstrikes in southern Syria. Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, said the country is committed to protecting the Druze community in the region amid tensions involving Iran and Hezbollah.

In another development, Russia summoned Israel’s ambassador after an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon injured a Russian news crew. Russia described the attack as deliberate and a violation of international law.

Syria’s President, Ahmad al-Sharaa, said the current situation is a major and rare event, unlike anything seen since World War II. He added that Syria is trying to avoid being drawn into the conflict while focusing on rebuilding the country.
