Troops of the 82 Division Task Force under Operation HADIN KAI have rescued nine more people, including women and children, in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The rescue took place during separate patrol operations around Armuda Bridge in Ngoshe on July 14.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the victims were rescued after escaping from terrorist captivity and finding their way to military positions.

The first rescue happened around 6:00 a.m. when soldiers on patrol spotted three frightened children running toward them near Armuda Bridge. The children were identified as Aisha Saleh, 11, Ummi Haruna, 12, and Hauwa Ali, 9.

The troops secured the area and took the children to safety.

Later, at about 3:00 p.m. on the same day, soldiers rescued a 15 year old girl, Jamila Danfo, after she was seen running toward a military checkpoint. Troops searched the area to ensure there was no immediate threat before evacuating her.

Preliminary investigations showed that the rescued children came from the Agapalawa area and had escaped from terrorist captivity before meeting the troops.

Makama said the latest operation has increased the number of abductees rescued through the military’s East Corridor operations to 104 as security forces continue clearance operations across parts of Borno State.

The military has continued its efforts to rescue victims and weaken terrorist activities in the North East region.
