In an address preceding the commencement of this week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House Council Chambers, President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, reiterated his unwavering confidence in his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The President’s affirmation comes amidst heightened speculations and concerns within political circles.
However, President Tinubu didn’t merely focus on personnel matters. He also emphasized the need for stricter adherence to security protocols, particularly within the State House premises, highlighting instances of unauthorized individuals gaining access to the highly sensitive Council Chambers.
He said:
“First of all, let me reiterate to all of you the fact that a lot of stories are going around about what is happening. I’ve told everyone in this country that I can make mistakes, they’re bound to air them out and correct them.
“Perfection is that of God Almighty. I have absolute confidence in the integrity of my Chief of Staff. All campaigns of calumny and insinuations should stop, the buck stops here.
“If I make a mistake I’m ready to own up to it and we’re all joining hands to fight corruption and we want to enforce the law along with you.”
Moreover, the session began on a solemn note as a minute of silence was observed in honor of the late Alhaji Adamu Fika, a former member of FEC and one-time Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, who passed away last week at the venerable age of 90.
