President Bola Tinubu is meeting behind closed doors with the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting is coming moments after the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly turned rowdy while screening one of President Tinubu’s ministerial nominees, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Festus Keyamo.
Keyamo was ushered in by the Senate Sergeant at arms for his screening and perhaps confirmation.
The process became rowdy when the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Darlington Nwokocha, moved a motion for the suspension of the ministerial screening
Keyamo.
He accused Keyamo of disrespecting the 9th National Assembly and levelling allegations of corruption against the previous administration.
Nwokocha’s motion was immediately seconded by his colleague from Abia-South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe, which was subjected to a voice vote by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, but the lawmakers were divided on the matter.
The red chamber immediately erupted into a rowdy session.

Clearly worried by the development, Akpabio rose to his feet and announced that the Senate would enter a closed session.
Meanwhile, Akpabio arrived the Villa around 2.25pm shortly after the Senate adjourned for a close-door session to determine the fate of the former Minister of State.
Keyamo, previously served as the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity during ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
He was at the time, summoned to clarify matters pertaining to a Special Public Works program but failed to honor the invitation.
The programme was overseen by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), which fell under Keyamo’s ministry.
