Troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA have reportedly carried out a successful air operation that led to the killing of several suspected terrorists in Kaduna State, in the Giwa Local Government Area.

According to security sources, the operation was based on credible intelligence gathered about terrorist movement in the Kidandan axis. The information suggested that suspected armed men were moving around the area and possibly regrouping at a hidden location in the axis

On Monday at about 5:10 p.m., an aerial surveillance team was deployed to carry out intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance activities over the affected area.

The aircraft monitored the environment closely and observed suspicious movement patterns.

During the operation, four suspected terrorists were first seen travelling on motorcycles.

They were placed under continuous tracking as the surveillance team followed their movement. Shortly after, two more motorcycles were also spotted along a route believed to lead to a known terrorist gathering point.

The monitoring operation eventually led troops to a suspected hideout located on higher ground within the operational area of Giwa Local Government Area.

The hideout was kept under close watch for some time to confirm activity and ensure the target was correctly identified.

After confirming the location, the air force launched a precision strike on the target. The attack reportedly hit the suspected hideout directly, leading to the neutralisation of several suspected terrorists.

However, some of the suspected fighters were said to have fled the area in different directions after the strike. Security forces believe the operation disrupted their movements and weakened their coordination in the region.

The military operation is part of ongoing efforts under Operation FANSAN YANMA to address insecurity and reduce terrorist activities in Kaduna and surrounding areas.

Authorities say such intelligence-led strikes are aimed at targeting armed groups while limiting risks to civilians in nearby communities.
