Nigeria’s queen of music, songwriter, and actress Onyeka Onwenu, fondly known as the Elegant Stallion, have been buried in Lagos.
Top Society reports that the service of songs was held early Friday at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, where close family, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their final respects.
Following the service, her body was immediately taken to a private vault in Ikoyi for interment.

The event was attended by a small circle of friends adhering to last wishes of the singer where she clamoured for a private and simple burial.
Among the notable attendees was Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti.
Onyeka Onwenu passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72, after collapsing at an event honoring Dr. Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

Beyond her talents as a musician and actress, Onyeka was also a respected broadcaster, politician, and activist.
She is survived by her two sons, Tijani and Abraham Ogunlende.
