The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has called on Nigerians to keep praying for peace, unity and good leadership as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
Yohanna, who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, said he believes the challenges facing Niger State and Nigeria can be overcome through prayers, understanding and cooperation among citizens.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message shared with journalists on Wednesday, he encouraged residents of Niger State to use the celebration as a time to reflect and ask God for mercy and direction for the country.
According to him, Nigerians should remain hopeful and not lose faith despite the difficulties facing the nation.
He also encouraged people to support the less privileged by reaching out to orphanages, elderly care homes, Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, hospitals and correctional centres during the festive season.
The cleric urged Nigerians to live peacefully and show love to one another regardless of tribe, ethnicity or religion, stressing that national unity is important for progress.
Yohanna said Eid-el-Kabir represents sacrifice, love, peace and obedience to God, adding that the lessons of the celebration should continue even after the festivities.
He further called for greater tolerance and cooperation among citizens to help build a more peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
The CAN chairman also congratulated Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago, traditional rulers in the state, including the Etsu Nupe, and Muslims across the country on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
