With over 20 years of experience in banking and broad executive management, Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, OON, has served Zenith Bank diligently, rising through the ranks from Deputy Managing Director to her current position. She has earned numerous awards for her excellence and creativity in management.
In just a brief period since assuming leadership at Zenith Bank, the Sociology graduate of University of Jos has made tremendous changes in the day to day operations of the bank, activating robust banking services across departments and branches of the bank nationwide. She has endowed absolute professionalism and thorough banking operations on all workers of the bank, executive brilliant outputs and optimum service delivery.
An alumnus of Harvard Business School, Dame Umeoji, a quintessential banker and financial expert remains so instrumental to purposeful activation of quality banking services, networking across communities in the North East, North Central, North West, South East, South West and South South. As a result of her passion for promoting professionalism in the banking industry and improving the well-being of the less privileged, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON founded the Catholic Bankers Association of Nigeria (CBAN), a platform she uses to promote ethical banking and service to humanity.
A multi-educated woman of sterling brilliance, Dame Umeoji holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a first-class honours in Law from Baze University Abuja. She also holds a Master of Laws from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Calabar. She is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) from Harvard Business School, a graduate of the Global Banking Program from Columbia Business School and she holds a doctorate degree in Business Administration from Apollos University, USA. Her dissertation was on inspirational leadership and her findings have been recognized as a major contribution to leadership and people management.

Having attended numerous local and international courses to broaden her financial knowledge, Dame Umeoji has employed several useful policies and strategies, targeted at revamping the Nigerian and African banking sectors. She is a global ambassador for institutionalized banking, a renowned financial colossus, and a dignified leader in finances and investments.
Having attended strategic thinking and management programme at Wharton Business School, USA and bagging a Certificate in Economics for Business from the prestigious MIT Management Sloan School and a Certificate in Leading Global Businesses from Harvard Business School, USA, Dame Adaora Umeoji could easily be rated as one of Nigeria’s most outstanding financial icons whose passion for comprehensive banking remains intact.
A fellow of notable professional bodies including the Chartered Bankers Institute of London, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Institute of Credit Administration, Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Meditators & Conciliators, and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria, among others, Dame Umeoji, the first female Managing Director of Zenith Bank has proven her mettle as a reliable and dependable banker in all ramifications. She has presented lead papers at major academic conferences and symposia. She was a keynote speaker at the Zenith Global Economic Forum held in New York City, USA where she delivered a thought-provoking lecture on Financing Growth Drivers in the Nigerian Economy.
