The Nigeria Baptist Convention (NBC) President, Rev Dr Israel Akanji, confirmed the release of the final victim of the Bethel Baptist High School kidnapping incident in Kaduna State.
He said,
“Glory be to God! Glory be to God!! Glory be to God!!! Treasure Ayuba, the last boy who was still with the bandits who kidnapped the 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna, on July 5, 2021, has just returned home today, November 2, 2023.
The abducted student, Treasure Ayuba, was freed on Thursday night, marking a significant development in the aftermath of the traumatic abduction that occurred on July 5, 2021.
The incident, which saw armed gunmen invade the Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi, Kaduna, resulted in the abduction of 121 students.
The successful release of Treasure Ayuba comes as a beacon of hope and relief for the families, the school, and the entire community, who have been grappling with the repercussions of the heinous act for several months.
The NBC President, Rev Dr Israel Akanji, in a statement, expressed the Convention’s gratitude and relief at the safe return of the last student. The efforts of the relevant authorities and security agencies in securing the release were acknowledged and commended.
“Thanks be to our unfailing God. Thank you also very much for your prayers and numerous support,” he noted.
