The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is slated to address the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s academic records, which were recently released by Chicago State University (CSU). This development comes to the forefront as Atiku is scheduled to hold a press conference today.
A statement released ahead of the press conference reads,
“This is to inform and invite you to the World Press Conference of Our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, GCON, at the Yar’Adua Centre, Tomorrow, Thursday 5, October 2023, in the afternoon. The exact time will be communicated shortly. Please endeavor to attend. Thank You.”
It is worth recalling that Atiku Abubakar had taken legal action to secure the release of President Tinubu’s education records from CSU through a court subpoena, in opposition to the President’s prior refusal to disclose this information.
The released records, which surfaced on October 3, and a subsequent deposition on Tuesday, revealed discrepancies in Tinubu’s 1979 CSU certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when compared to samples of certificates issued to students in the same year. Under oath, the CSU Registrar expressed inability to authenticate the certificate that Tinubu had presented to INEC.
Atiku Abubakar had maintained silence since the release of these documents, but today’s press conference is expected to shed light on his stance and further implications on the certificate issue of President Bola Tinubu.
