The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has set Sunday, May 24, 2026, as the date for its presidential primary and special convention ahead of the 2027 elections.

This decision was announced by Kingsley Temitope Ogga, who is the chairman of the ADC state chairmen.

He explained that the timetable for the party’s activities follows the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act, and a recent Federal High Court judgment in Abuja.

According to the schedule:

Ward and local government congresses will take place on May 7.

State congresses will be held on May 8.

Ogga stressed that all these activities must be carried out through the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC). He warned members, aspirants, and stakeholders to only follow official party structures.

He also said that any meetings, primaries, or congresses held outside the NEC structure will not be accepted.

Only decisions and results from NEC-approved processes will be valid for the 2027 general elections.

This announcement comes as the party is facing internal disagreements, especially after its national convention held on April 14, 2026, in Abuja, where a new leadership was approved despite disputes.

Party insiders believe this new development could increase the ongoing leadership crisis as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
