Access Bank on Wednesday has alerted its customers to be wary of fraudsters using the name of its late group chief executive officer, Herbert Wigwe for fraud.

It would be recalled that Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and son Chizi, and former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Abimbola Ogunbanjo died in a helicopter crash in Southern California, USA on February 9.

The Wigwe’s were buried on March 9 in a private tomb inside the Wigwe University in which the banker built in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The bank, in a message to its customers on Wednesday, said its attention was drawn to fraudulent activities by some persons using Wigwe’s name.

The bank said,

“Dear valued customer, thank you for your support as we remember our beloved Group CEO, De Herbert Wigwe,

“It has come to our attention that fraudsters are exploiting the situation, soliciting financial contributions, and falsely promising giveaways.

“We care about you and the safety of your funds. Please do not make any contributions or give out sensitive information such as your PIN, OTP, BVN or account details to anyone claiming to represent Access Bank. Say no to fraud.”
