Adam Azim had his biggest win yet, defeating Russian fighter Sergey Lipinets in nine rounds to win the vacant IBO super lightweight title at OVO Arena Wembley.
During the event, boxing promoter Ben Shalom spoke with talkSPORT pundit Spencer Oliver. While discussing Azim’s fight, Shalom also shared exciting news about another boxer he manages.
Shalom confirmed that a fight between British heavyweight Anthony Joshua and Congolese boxer Martin Bakole is finalized. He stated, “It’s done. I’m hearing he’s signed, and we’re off to the Congo.”
Joshua, 35, has been looking for a comeback fight after his loss to Daniel Dubois in September. Bakole, 31, has a record of 21 wins, 1 loss, and 16 knockouts. Many consider him the “most avoided” fighter in the heavyweight division.
Bakole has trained with top boxers like Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois. He has always wanted to fight Joshua, whom he once sparred with in Sheffield. He believes their fight will take place in a stadium in Congo this summer.
Shalom started his boxing promotion company in Manchester at just 23 years old and is now one of the top promoters in Britain.
