Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen scored a second-half hat-trick to give his team a convincing 3–0 away win over Ajax Amsterdam in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Two of his goals came from the penalty spot, bringing his total to six in the competition this season.
The result lifted Galatasaray from 16th to ninth place in the standings, with nine points from four matches. Ajax, four-time European champions, remain bottom of the 36-team table without a single point.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 59th minute with a header from Leroy Sane’s cross.
He doubled the lead in the 66th minute with a penalty after Ajax defender Youri Baas handled the ball in the box.
The Nigerian forward completed his hat-trick from another penalty in the 78th minute after debutant Gerald Alders committed a similar handball offense.
Ajax nearly scored when Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir misjudged a clearance, leaving the net open for Mika Godts, but the forward failed to capitalize on the mistake.
