U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked fresh controversy after he was caught on camera making an obscene gesture toward a heckler during a visit to an automobile manufacturing plant in Michigan.
The incident occurred on Tuesday while the president was touring a Ford F-150 assembly plant in the Detroit area. Trump, who was standing on an elevated walkway overlooking the factory floor and dressed in a long black overcoat, appeared to react angrily after shouts were directed at him from below.
Video footage circulating widely on social media shows Trump pointing in the direction of the heckler, scowling, and appearing to mutter words before raising his middle finger. The moment lasted only a few seconds but quickly drew attention online and across news platforms.
The individual who shouted at the president has not been publicly identified. However, a White House spokesperson later said the heckler was shouting insults at the president and described Trump’s response as justified, adding that the individual “got what they deserved.”
The incident was not part of Trump’s official remarks during the visit, which was aimed at highlighting American manufacturing and the auto industry. Despite the brief confrontation, the factory tour continued without interruption.
The episode has since fueled debate over presidential conduct and decorum, with critics condemning the gesture as inappropriate, while supporters argue it was a reaction to provocation.
