UK Tightens Travel Rules With Updated Visa Requirement List

The United Kingdom (UK) has released an updated list of countries whose citizens must obtain a visa before entering or passing through the country.

The updated list, published on July 10, 2026, includes countries from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.

According to the UK government, citizens of the following countries and territories are required to get a visa before travelling to or transiting through the UK:

Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Belarus, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, China, Colombia, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Northern Cyprus, Dominica, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, India, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Kosovo, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Moldova, Mongolia, Myanmar, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Rwanda, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Saint Lucia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Uganda, Venezuela (for holders of non-biometric passports), Vanuatu, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.

The update means that nationals of these countries must secure the appropriate visa before travelling to the UK, whether for tourism, business, study, work, or transit purposes.

The UK government advises travellers to check the latest immigration requirements before making travel plans, as visa rules may change from time to time.

The announcement comes amid ongoing reviews of the UK’s immigration and border control policies aimed at strengthening security and managing international travel.
