Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), under a group called the Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI), have praised the Federal Government for its efforts to improve security in Nigeria.

The group said the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking a proactive approach to security.

They added that the work of the National Security Adviser has helped achieve noticeable progress, such as breaking up separatist groups and stopping criminal activities.

In a statement signed by its Director General, Kunle Yusuff, CSCHEI said strong cooperation between security agencies, CSOs, and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) has helped promote peace and stability across the country.

The group explained that CSOs and CBOs play an important role in local communities. They help build trust, provide useful information, and support government efforts to tackle insecurity.

Reacting to the travel advisory issued by the United States, CSCHEI said it shows the need for countries to work together on security issues. The group appreciated support from international partners and called for continued cooperation to improve Nigeria’s security and development.

They also said the National Leadership Council of CSOs and CBOs is committed to working with security agencies by sharing information and supporting operations to ensure lasting peace and development.

CSCHEI noted that every Nigerian deserves to live in a safe environment. It added that, based on its presence in many local government areas across 26 states, security efforts at the grassroots level are beginning to show positive results.

The group specifically praised the Department of State Security for its work in local government areas, saying it is helping to improve security.

Finally, CSCHEI called on all Nigerians to support government efforts to fight insecurity, stressing that it is a shared responsibility and cannot be handled by the government alone.
