Tinubu Assigns Fani-Kayode, Reno Omokri, Ajimobi as Ambassadors to Germany, Mexico, Austria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of several Nigerians as ambassadors to different countries. Among those appointed are Femi Fani‑Kayode, Reno Omokri, and Fatima Florence Ajimobi.

According to a statement released on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Fani-Kayode will serve as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany. Reno Omokri has been appointed Nigeria’s envoy to Mexico, while Fatima Florence Ajimobi has been posted to Austria.

Fatima Ajimobi is the widow of the late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi.

The appointments are part of a larger diplomatic deployment approved by President Tinubu. In total, 65 ambassadors have been assigned to various countries and international missions.

Out of the 65 ambassadors, 31 are career diplomats, while 34 are non-career ambassadors. Their nominations were earlier confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December.

The Federal Government plans to organise an induction programme for the ambassadors-designate before they begin their duties in their respective countries.

The appointments are part of a larger diplomatic plan approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In total, 65 ambassadors have been assigned to represent Nigeria in different countries and international missions around the world.

Out of the 65 ambassadors, 31 are career diplomats who have worked in the foreign service for many years. The remaining 34 are non-career ambassadors chosen from different professional and political backgrounds. Their nominations were earlier confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December.

The new ambassadors are expected to represent Nigeria’s interests abroad, strengthen diplomatic relationships, and promote trade and cooperation with their host countries.

Before taking up their new assignments, the Federal Government will organise an induction programme to prepare the ambassadors for their duties.

After the training, they will travel to their respective countries to officially begin their diplomatic roles.
