Skales: Unknown Footballers Still Earn More Than Many Musicians

Nigerian singer Skales has shared his thoughts on the long-standing debate about whether footballers or musicians make more money.

According to the singer, football players enjoy more stable and reliable income compared to artists in the music industry.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Groovymono show, the ‘Shake Body’ crooner explained that footballers do not necessarily need to be superstars or regular starters before earning huge salaries.

He noted that many players who are not widely known by fans still earn impressive wages because they are under professional contracts with clubs.
Skales said the music industry operates differently because success often depends on how relevant and popular an artist remains over time.

He explained that musicians can have hit songs and enjoy fame today, but struggle financially tomorrow if their music is no longer trending.

According to him, music money is seasonal and can rise or fall at any time, unlike football salaries which are usually guaranteed for the duration of a player’s contract.

He added that only a few musicians have managed to remain consistently successful in the entertainment industry for many years.

The singer also stated that artists who stay relevant for a long period are often supported by grace, hard work and consistency.

In contrast, footballers can continue to earn steady income even when they are not in the spotlight or actively performing at their best.

Skales concluded by saying that although musicians also make “crazy money,” the financial structure in sports provides more security and stability than the music business.
