The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and six other aspirants from contesting in the party’s governorship primary election in Osun State.

The primary is scheduled for December 13, 2025, but the affected aspirants will no longer be part of it due to what the APC described as major lapses in their nomination documents.

The decision came after the APC Screening Committee, led by Chief Obinna Uzoh, completed its assignment on December 4, 2025.

The committee later sent its final report to the APC National Working Committee in Abuja. According to the report, several key requirements expected from the aspirants were either not submitted or were incomplete.

Those disqualified include:

Iyiola Omisore

Babatunde Haketer Oralusi

Oyedotun Babayemi

Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi

Benedict Alabi

Adegoke Rasheed Okiki

Senator Babajide Omoworare

The Screening Committee explained that the affected aspirants failed to present documents showing that at least five registered party members from each Local Government Area supported them.

These supporters were also supposed to be financially up-to-date members of the APC. The committee said this requirement is clearly stated in Articles 9.3(i) and 31.2(ii) of the APC Constitution as well as the party’s guidelines for the governorship primary.

The APC leadership has said that its decision is to ensure transparency, fairness and strict adherence to party rules ahead of the Osun 2026 governorship election.

The party noted that following the rules is necessary to avoid legal disputes after the primary.
