The commotion unfolded concurrently with the initiation of an impeachment process against the incumbent Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Moreover, the suspension of House leader Edison Ehie and several colleagues allegedly aligned with the governor has further amplified tensions within the political scene in the State.
